About

The Will County Alternative Fuels Readiness Plan

Will County is preparing the Alternative Fuels Readiness Plan to make sure the County is ready to meet the demand for sustainable transportation options. Over the last year and a half, the number of electric vehicles (EVs) in the County has more than doubled, and the number of other alternative fuel vehicles has steadily increased. Through this plan, the County will strive to ensure that the needs of drivers of these vehicles are met.

Home to the ‘Crossroads of mid-America’, Will County is also at the crossroads for alternative fuels with three Alternative Fuel Corridors: I-80, I-57, and I-55. The County is already home to more than 50 charging stations, an electric bus manufacturer, and one of the country’s only hydrogen fuel cell engine manufacturers. This plan will help to identify what is needed to support and expand this important growth and position the county well for  future funding.
